Honor & Courage

Courage is a hard thing to figure.
You can have courage based on a dumb idea or a mistake.
But u`re not supposed to question adults or your coach or your teacher. Because they make the rules.
Maybe they know best, but maybe they don't.
It all depends on who you are, where you come from.
That's why courage is tricky.
Should you always do what others tell you to do?
Sometimes, you don't even know why you are doing something.
I mean, any fool can have courage.
Honor, that's the real reason you either do something or you don't.
It's who you are, and maybe who you want to be.
If you die trying for something important, then you would have both honor and courage.
One should hope for courage and try for honor.
And maybe even pray that the people who are telling you what to do, have some too.

Root Three

I fear that I will always be
A lonely number like root three
A three is all that's good and right
Why must my three keep out of sight
Beneath a vicious square-root sign?

I wish instead I were a nine
For nine could thwart this evil trick
With just some quick arithmetic

Such is my reality
A sad irrationality
When, hark, just what is this I see?
Another square root of a three
Has quietly come waltzing by

Together now we multiply
To form a number we prefer
Rejoicing as an integer
We break free from our mortal bonds
And with a wave of magic wands
Our square-root signs become unglued
And love for me has been renewed
